BE
STILL

"Be still, and know that I am God.” (KJV Ps. 46:10)
There is strength, restoration and rock solid belief that can only be found in stillness. Strong’s definition for “still” is to relax, withdraw, to let go. God tells us how to live a life of freedom and peace in this passage by letting go and knowing that He alone is God, the Creator of the universe. Only in the stillness can we even begin to contemplate His majesty. The greatness of our God can be found if we only seek to be still in His presence.
At a recent conference this became a life changing revelation. At the altar, desperate to seek His face, my mind was racing then all of a sudden I heard, “Be still and know that I am God.” At that moment all thoughts stopped and my focus became clear. My mind had to let go and relax in His presence. It was such a relief and such an awesome place to be. I was in His beautiful presence and His magnificence was overwhelming. This is the God that performs countless miracles, promises abundant life and delivers it, made a way for His children in all circumstances and gave each of us the very breath we breathe. How can we live with worry about anything if the God that did all of this still reigns? He hasn’t stopped moving and He hasn’t forgotten us. He is still ALL powerful, it’s our fears that hinder and prolong the things of God.
When we are too busy trying to figure it all out and, in a sense, trying to “help” God get our lives together, then we take ourselves off of the straight path He has laid out for each of us. We are the ones that choose the winding path. The winding path can, however, change our lives and eventually end up back at the straight path. The straight path doesn’t necessarily mean that things happen faster it simply provides a stress free way of getting to your destinations. It is a much more peaceful road to travel and it’s available to everyone that will take the time to be still.
Here is a good place to start: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (KJV Phil. 4:6). Don’t be troubled with cares (anxious), instead pray and seek (supplication) God. Then be still and the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (KJV Phil 4:7).
It’s wonderful to know that our God tells us, “Don’t be concerned with anything. I’ve got it all under control! All you have to do is be still.”
